The Crow And The Oyster

The 4th exercise of narrative text!

     One day, a hungry crow saw an oyster on the beach. He wanted to eat the tasty meat inside the shell, so he tried to open the oyster. 
     First, he used his beak, but he could not open the shell. Then, he hit it with a stone, but the shell stayed tightly shut. He even jumped up and down on the oyster, but still he could not open it. 
    Then, another crafty crow came by. He saw what the first crow was trying to do and said,”My friend, may i offer you some good advice? I suggest you pick up the oyster in your beak, fly high into the air and then drop the oyster onto the rocks below. The oyster shell will break open and you will be able to have your meal!” 
     The hungry crow thought that this was a very good idea. He picked up the oyster with his beak and then he flew as high as he could. When he was sure that he was high enough, he dropped the oyster onto the rocks far below. 
    The oyster shell broke wide open. However, the crafty crow was waiting behind the rock nearby, and he reached the broken oyster first. He enjoyed a tasty meal white the hungry crow had nothing to eat.

The Ant And The Dove

The 3rd Exercise Of Narrative Text!

      One hot day, an ant was searching for some water. After walking around for some water. After walking around for some time, she came to a spring. 
       To reach the spring, she had to climb up a blade of glass. While making her way up, she slipped and fell into the water. 
      She could have drowned if a dove up a nearby tree had not helped her. Seeing that the ant was in trouble, the dove quickly plucked a leaf and dropped it into the water near the struggling ant. The ant moved towards the leaf and climbed up there. Soon, it carried her safely to dry ground. 
     Just at that time, a hunter nearby was throwing out his net towards the dove. Hoping to trap it.       Guessing what he was about to do, the ant quickly bit him on the heel. Feeling the pain, the hunter dropped his net. Quickly, the dove flew away to safety.

Durian

       Durian is classified as Durio Zibethinus. It is native to Southeast Asia. Durian is known as “King of Fruit”. It is not only the most expensive fruit but also the most controversial fruit. It is only fruit which is banned from airline cabins, hotels and some public transports. 
     The durian tree is large and very tall. It can grow up to 25-50 meters and it has green elliptic leaves. A durian tree usually can bear fruit after four of five years. The durian fruit, which can hang from any branches, matures in about three months after pollination. The fruit can grow up to 30 cm long and 15 cm in diameter. The husk is covered with sharp thorns. The color of the husk ranges from green to brown. The flesh is pale yellow. It is very soft but not juicy. When it is ripe, it tastes sweet and smells very strong. 
       Durian contains a lot of sugar, vitamin C, and potassium. Durian is also a good source of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Durian is usually eaten fresh. Sometimes it is also cooked to make “dodol” or jam. 
       Durian used to be grown from seeds, but now it is propagated by grafting.

      Coconut is a common name for the fruit of a tree of the palm family. It is classified as Cocos Nucifera. People usually call the tree coconut palm. Coconut palm trees grow well in tropical countries. They grow especially on sandy soils. 
        The trees can grow up to 30 m high. They have a single cylindrical trunk. At the top of the trunk, there is a crown of leaves. The leaves are long, about 3 to 4,5 m long. The fruit grows in clusters. In one cluster, there are about 5-20 coconuts. The fruit is oval and about 30 cm long. It has a thick husk and a hard shell. Inside the shell, there is white oily flesh. Inside the shell, there is also a sweet fluid. 
Coconut is high in sugar. It also contains a lot of fat, protein and vitamin. The young coconut water can be very refreshing drink which contains a lot of minerals. 
       Coconut palms are very useful plants. People can use every single inch of the tree. They dry the coconut meat into copra. After that, they can get oil from it and use the trunks to build houses. For the roof, they dry the leaves. People can also make rope and doormats from the coconut’s husk. 
      Coconuts are usually propagated by seeds, but experts have been trying to clone coconuts or propagate them by issue culture.

    Elephants are the largest animals on earth. They have the largest brains of any mammal. Elephants talk to each other. Researchers have discovered more than 50 different types of calls that they use to communicate with each other. Their trunks are strong enough to pick up tress but sensitive enough to pick up a flower. They use them as tools to sweep paths, to scratch themselves, to swat flies, and to drat in the dirt. They are good swimmers and use their trunks like snorkels. They live together in family groups. They help each other when in trouble. They join together to care for and rescue their young.

My Holiday In Forest

      I went to forest last month. I went there to visit Australian volunteer English teachers in Maumere, Ende and Bajawa. As a result, I also enjoyed the beauty of the island. 
         I started my first day in Maumere with Jo Keating. After visiting several schools in the city, we took an amazing journey over the mountains to the south coast. We visited a new junior high school there. Then, I travelled to Ende to meet Sharoon Kidman. Ende has a great market with a lovely section of traditional woven ikat cloth and great seafood. 
       My next trip was to Detusuko. It is a mountain village. I went there with Ginny Edwards. Detsuko is not far from Mount Kelimutu. We woke up at 4 a.m to see the three different colored lakes at dawn. It was truly inspiring. 
       My final trip was to Bajawa. It is a small town high in the mountains. It was a very cool place. Yet my trip was fun and memorable. I would like to go back Flores one day.

       Last Saturday, I woke up early, but I didn’t get up because there was no school. Suddenly, my telephone rang. It was my friend fanny, she asked me to go out at 10.00 o’clock. She wanted to buy something in the traditional market. 
       Finally, we were out. In the street, I saw a piece of pink coupon. Interested with its color, I took it, then Fanny and I read this out. We were fully shocked, it was a receipt of four night tour to Lombok. The expired date was that day. To our surprised, the name was Fanny Fenita and the birth date was exactly the same like Fanny my friend, and it was also valid for two persons. My God! We were thinking that maybe the coupon just fell from the sky and it was there for us. 
        We were in hurried to the address of the tour agency that issued the coupon. The tour agency took care of everything. We went home and still could not believe what was going on. Two days later we were on the Senggigi Beach, lied in the warm sun. Moreover, we had a long public holiday, so we could enjoy the “gift” happily. We also bought some presents for our family and friends.

       Last week, I went to Mount Bromo. I stayed at my friend’s house in Probolinggo, East Java. The house has a big garden with colorful flowers and a small pool. 
      In the morning, my friend and I saw Mount Batok. The scenery was very beautiful. We rode on horseback. It was scary, but it was fun. Then, we went to get a closer look at the mountain. We took pictures of the beautiful scenery there. After that, we took a rest and had lunch under a big tree. Before we got home, went to the zoo at Wonokromo. We went home in the afternoon. 
      We were very tired. However, I think it was really fun to have a holiday like this. I hope my next holiday will be more interesting.

Toranga Zoo

         Toranga zoo is the major zoo in Australia. It is located in Sydney, New South Wales. It occupies a 33-hectare location. The name “Toranga” is an aboriginal name. It means “water view”.
